Suggest Food Diet To Prevent Constipation

hi doctor my question is i have a narrow anual and a rectocell and a prolaps bladder i have just had an opperation on piles as well i have tried everything to releive the contipation what foods can i eat to make me go i went to my doctor to day she told me to stay on taking tabblts untill i see a doctor in five weeks to get the rectocelland bladder done. thanks jen

Hello,

welcome to HCM.

To relieve constipation you need about 25-30 gms of fibre on daily basis.Also you need to drink lots of water i.e about 3-4 litres to keep your bowels moving.
1. Foods that should be consumed on regular basis to relive constipation are raisins,prunes,dates,bananas,pears,papaya and ofcourse along with lots of salads with your meals.

2.Also there are certain foods which causes constipation and you should avoid them such as products made with refined flour,chocolates,pomergranates,caffeine.

3. There are also couple of medicines like the iron tablets which causes constipation.Pls check with your family physician about that.
