Suggest Exercise For Persistent Pain In Buttocks Having Bulging Of Disc

I have continual pain in my left buttock area, have had an MRI which indicates a bulge in my disc, but also have pain on the side of my left hip. What could it be and what exercise can I do to help work through the pain. It s always worse climbing stairs or walking up hill?

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this pain that you have reported. This pain seems related to a herniated disc. Best treatment is to get it evaluated by a neurosurgeon. If there are enough reasons to suggest surgery, then that would be done and if need pain medications with physical therapy would be recommended. Listing exercises would not be helpful but an appointment with a physical therapist would be able to identify what can best be suited to help deal with this pain and show you how to do it practically.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
