Hello,

I went through your concern.

Fist of all i would like you to provide the correct information regarding which liver enzyme is elevated. Is it AST or is it ALT?

Nevertheless, to lower the liver enzymes, lifestyle and dietary changes need to be made. So,

1. Abstain from fats, alcohol, spices, oil and red meats.
2. include foods such as fresh fruits , vegetables, fruit juices, high amount of carbs, skinless poultry and fish in your daily diet.
3. Avoid fried vegetables and poultry. Instead try baking , grilling , broiling .
4. increase intake of food such as fish oil and flax seeds, which are rich in omega 3 fatty acids.
5. Vegetable source of protein should be given a preference over animal source of protein.
This is to be complimented with a strict , and more importantly , regular workout regime (Half-hourly for five days/wk)
If the increase in the liver enzymes is not to high, these would reach normal limits in a couple of months.

An important piece of advice would be , not to become complacent when the liver enzymes return to normal levels. Continue with the same dietary as well as workout regime making it a part of your day-to -day routine.

Any follow-up questions will be much appreciated,
Regards,
Dr.Pallavi Jain
