Suggest Diet Providing High Energy For Losing Weight

Hello, my names Fallon and I need some nutritional advice. I will try not to make this too long but I d like to give as much history as I can. I m a 26yr old female, about 5 0 tall and now 135lbs. I grew up with a VERY poor junk food/processed food diet. I would avoid vegetables as if they were a plague. I never had any problems though, besides being slightly anemic (due to menstrual problems and probably diet as well) I was very active, until I entered my 20 s and I was not able to be as active due to working and school .. and the weight started coming on. Over a year and a half ago now, when I was at 160lbs; I had decided I needed to make a serious change. I first decided to do a low-carb diet for a couple months, where most of the weight came off to my content (was down to be 125-130lbs). When that hit a plateau; I decided to try to become even healthier . I went from the girl who lived off McDonalds and Kraft Dinner, to now Vegetarian. With the Vegetarianism though came back the carbs and processed foods in it s place. I started going to the gym, thinking I could eat what I wanted and just work it off. When I noticed the weight start to come back on, I realized I again needed to make a change. After doing some reading, I heard about the Raw Food diet and all it s glory. I thought this was an amazing idea and I was ready for the change. For 5 days now, I have eaten nothing but some fresh fruit (either alone or blended together with water, hemp seeds and chia seeds) mainly vegetables (either thrown in my juice or raw, or salads) almonds, olive oil with my salad, and a very small amount of rice and potato, and beans. Oatmeal was also one the menu one day until i realized it had gluten. I thought this was a wonderful idea, and would solve my problem of wanting to lose a bit more weight and being healthy at the same time. For the past 3 days, I have had nothing but stomach pains, been very weak, and unmotivated... though I feel I have also been going through alot of stress lately (leaving a current job for a new better job). The stomach pains have been so severe at times that I wasn t sure if I was going to pass out or throw up. I feel like I have quite a bit of gas (constantly burping, though I am definitely not eating too fast) and I have had no problems going to the bathroom, though it has not been most comfortable. These changes have also been influenced by a colleague of mine; who is vegan. I watched her go through horrors at the beginning (also doing the Master Clense and various fasts) to now thriving and extremely healthy. My Question; What can I do to give myself more energy, while still eating healthy non-processed foods, and moving towards losing weight properly. I like eating raw, since it saves time with less prep/cooking not being a factor, but I feel like my body is telling me this isn t right. I do not want to go back to eating KD and McDonalds and Pizza though. Is this something that could pass? Is it part of the detox process? Or are these signs this is not a good direction.

I am glad you've been honest about all that you have done in an attempt to lose weight. Fad diets which focus on eating only a particular type of food or eliminating certain food groups from diet in order to lose weight only play havoc with your body leading to multiple nutrient deficiencies. Your body needs a well-balanced diet in order to stay healthy. Eating a variety of healthy foods in the right proportion will ensure you get all the nutrients to stay in good health. Do not go for fad diets, crash diets or any other quick fix method for losing weight. Eat raw foods but include cooked foods also because many nutrients are best absorbed when food is cooked. Surely the symptoms you are experiencing is because of continuing on a raw food diet for extended periods. Such diets meant for detoxification should not be continued for more than 1-2 days.

Eat whole grain cereals like oats, oat bran, wheat bran containing foods, whole wheat pasta, bread and prefer brown rice over white polished rice.

Eat fresh whole fruits and vegetables both cooked and raw as salads without oily dressings.

Include low fat milk/yoghurt/cottage cheese. Avoid processed foods, processed cheese, canned and frozen foods.

You can include fruit salads, sprouted grams and low fat yoghurt as snacks. Avoid munching on chips, cookies, and other fatty foods.

Eat small meals and drink plenty of fluids.

Exercise or try to stay physically active throughout the day.

When you adopt a healthy lifestyle, you will lose weight without losing your health. So be patient and persistent in your efforts. You will surely reap the benefits.
