General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Its exact cause is not known. Ganglion cysts fluid-filled cysts which are usually harmless and commonly develop in the hand.

Its exact cause is not known however they are most common in younger people between the ages of 15 and 40 years, and gymnasts, who repeatedly apply stress to the wrist.

I advise you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for further evaluation and treatment which may involve surgical removal of the ganglion cyst under local anesthesia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
