I was just prescribed fluticasone nasal spray and cetirizine for cold or possibly allergy symptoms that include post-nasal drip and coughing up green to yellow mucus several times a day. These symptoms have persisted for three weeks now. I finished a 10-day dose of amoxicillin a week ago and while my symptoms seemed to lesson in severity the past week, a runny nose started again today so I decided to go to our local Urgent Care. My question is whether or not I can still take a nighttime cold medicine such as Nyquil to help me sleep, and if taking Mucinex or another expectorant during the day would still be recommended to loosen the mucus so that it comes out more easily. I didn't want to double up on medications if these two will do relieve the symptoms fine on their own.
