Hello, Both Controloc and Nexium belong to the class of medicines called PPI and both are equally effective. In addition you should practice some life style changes if not practising now. Avoid all spicy, sour and oily foods, coffee, tea, alcohol, aerated drinks or beverages with caffeine, chocolates and tobacco in any form. Sleep with the head end of your bed elevated 6 inches. Your last meal and drink should be at least 2 hours before your bed time so that your stomach is empty when you go to sleep. If you are overweight reduce weight and wear loose clothes at bed time. In most cases these with a PPI is sufficient. If symptomatic still, I advise domperidone for my patients in addition. Also antacids containg alginate or an H2 blocker medication may be used at night.
