Combivent Respimat has a combination of two medications; Ipratropium and Albuterol which both dilate the airways. Both drugs are aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of treatment of asthma or pulmonary obstructive disease. Your doctor probably prescribed based on the severity or persistence of your symptoms. I believe your doctor is better placed to change your prescription and provide you with an alternative which may include just the generic components of each of the drugs available in Combivent Respimat. What I do for my patients is I prescribe each type of drug separately (as generics) to help with the symptoms. It becomes far cheaper for the patients.
