Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had several UTI s since 12/15. Citrbacter & klebsiella are the most common, 100,000-200,000. I have taken Cipro and macrobid several times. Having knee replacement early August and worried about these infections. I just finished Cipro and feel the infection is still there. What next?
Many a times the infective agents are resistant to certain antibiotics and repeating the same drugs don't help. I suggest stop the antibiotic and wait for a week and then get a urine culture and sensitivity test done. Sensitivity test will exactly tell the name of the antibiotics to which the causative organism is resistant and sensitive. Then an antibiotic can be selected which is the most sensitive.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
