Suggest Alternative Medication For Sunburn To Replace Flamazine And Steroid Cream

Hi I got a very bad sunburn 3 months ago on my lower legs. I peeled about a week later and since then my legs are still red. Howevee it does go away when my legs are elelavted but the redness comes back when i start walking around and worsens when the weather is hot or during and after showers. Ive tried a topical steriod cream for 2 weeks and flamazene but it hasnt helped. What will make it go away ?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Avoid using steroid cream without your doctor's prescription. You can use a physical sunscreen containing Titanium dioxide and Zinc oxide on sun exposed areas. Instead of Flumazene, you can use Fusidic acid cream. Please take antioxidant capsules.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Severe sunburn can take up to couple of months to go. However, the other symptoms of legs getting warmed after a shower or you walking around points to something more than a simple sunburn. You need to get it reviewed to rule out cellulitis of your legs which is the infection of skin tissue too.

In that case the doctors will start you on antibiotics.
Hope that helps!
