What other drug or drugs besides propranolol (which effects my asthma) can I take for essential tremors? I am taking 175 mg of primidone which I don t feel is helping much but the Doctor said to continue taking it. I quit the propranolol two days ago and tremors are back.

Hello,

Yes, propranolol is sometimes suggested for tremors. Again it varies person to person and the doctor decides to prescribe the medication considering its benefits more than its side effects. Stopping any medication without consulting a doctor might cause severe adverse effects on body.

As you mentioned after stopping propranolol the tremors are back. You should not suddenly stop any medication. If you are having breathing issues getting severe after taking the medicine then mention this to your doctor he might change the dosage or medicine if he feels so.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
