Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
is THERE A BETTER SUBSTITUTE i COULD ASK MY DOCTOR TO PUT ME ON INSTEAD OF BYSTOLIC? IT IS NOT GENERIC, BUT MY OTHERE 3 MEDS ARE, AND IF i GO TO wALMART MY 3 WOULD QUALITY FOR $4.00 BUT NOT THE BYSTOLIC. I SEE MY DOCTOR IN 2 WEEKS FOR MY REGULAR CHECK UP THANKS
Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns. Bystolic (nebivolol) belongs to a group of drugs called beta-blockers.
Better beta-blocker is Metoprolol as 2014 Evidence-Based Guideline for the Management of High Blood Pressure in Adults (JNC 8) does not recommend vasodilating β-blockers (eg, nebivolol) as there is no RCTs(randomised controlled trial) of good or fair quality with nebivolol.
