Suggest Alternative Medication For Ambien

I have been ambien dependent since my daughter became ill and passed away in 2000. I have tried several other prescription sleep aids, all make me jittery or take hours to work if they work. Falling asleep is hard, any little thing wakes me up. I currently take 10-12.5 mg every evening. 10 to begin, if I m not asleep in 2 hours, then the .5 more usually does the trick. My Dr. has given me a lot of info about alzheimer being a possibility with continued use. Is there a drug out there that can help me?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There are several pharmaceutical alternatives to Ambien, although they too may have side effects and health risks.

You can start taking temazepam or alprazolam which are commonly used to treat sleep disorders for a short period and with almost similar side effects.

There are other options also but it is always better to consult a doctor before you start a sleep medicine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
