Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a student who fell while riding his bike last week. He landed on his right forearm and right knee. The right knee is scabbed and healing well. The right forearm is red, swollen and has blisters. He was wearing a sweatshirt at the time which did prevent gravel from getting into the wound. When I first saw it, the swelling was what concerned me. He is moving his arm and using it without any pain/difficulty. How would you treat this?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that he has an infection at the injured site of forearm leading to redness, swelling and blisters.. Blisters seems to be pus pockets formed secondary to infection..
I would suggest you to consult a General Physician and get him evaluated and he can advise him to take a course of antibiotics like Augmentin and Metronidazole, anti inflammatory painkiller like Advil, and clean the wound with antiseptic solution and apply Antibiotic and steroid ointment.. Do cool compresses over the wound.. Keep the area dry and clean..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
