Suggest A Remedy For Moderate Pain In The Arms And Shoulders

I have what feels like moderate nerve pain in my upper left arm. It starts from my left shoulder down to right above my elbow. It comes and goes through out the day. It feels like nerve pain that shoots down my left arm to right above my elbow. The pain never went past my elbow. It s been going on for the past few weeks and seems to be getting a little worse. I will straighten my arm to get some relief, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn t. I ve been doing arm stretches hoping that will relieve the pain. It doesn t really help, but I keep doing it any way. Doing activities can aggravate it at times also like housework, being on the computer etc. And I am left handed so I tend use my left hand a lot. Could it be a pinched nerve or something. It s very aggravating.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having symptoms of moderate pain in the arms and shoulders which could be due to many reasons such as soft tissue injury like tendon and ligament , tennis elbow , carpel tunnel syndrome , tendinitis , trigger points of trapezius muscles or injury to cervical portion of spine . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan MRI along with physical examination . Doctor may recommend physical therapy , prescribe anti inflammatory , muscle relaxant or particular stretching exercises . For now take proper rest , apply warm compresses and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain . Sometime pain can also occur due to heart condition like angina , for that doctor may refer you to cardiologist . Take proper rest and do not exert your body .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
