General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi

Any cause of abnormal weight gain such as hypothyroidism, metabolic syndrome or use of certain medications should be ruled out.Water retention and edema can also cause weight gain which should also be ruled out.

You can calculate required calorie intake. Based on this calculation, you need to decide on the food. Both dietary modification and physical exercise is essential .Any form of exercise such as cardio, weight training and yoga should be practiced to initiate maximum weight loss. Adequate water intake is recommended. Strengthen your muscles with toning exercises which is more than sufficient for weight loss. Check your weight once in 15 days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards
