Hi there.

The pancreatic islet transplantation is done mostly in patients who also undergo kidney transplant. This is because the patient has to be on multiple immunosuppressant drugs (to avoid transplant failure) including steroids. Some patients need more than ten times the insulin post surgery due to these drugs and there is a risk of the new pancreatic cells getting exausted very soon making your diabetes insulin dependent again.
Secondly, you being a patient with pancreatitis, you will be at multiple times higher risk of developing inflammation (pancreatitis) in the new tissues again! Because pancreatitis has genetic and local body reasons, the new cells might not escape the inflammatory process and will get damaged again.
So unfortunately you are not a candidate for pancreatic transplantation. I hope you got the answer.
