Suffering From Palmar Keratoderma. Taking Homeopathic Treatment. Prescribed KALI SULPHUR, PERTOLEUM. Treatment?
My son aged 14 years has been suffering from palmar keratoderma since last five years. He often has thick skin on his palms and after sometimes it becomes normal. He has been undergoing a homeopathic treatment since last year. The cracks increases at times of weather changes. Given are the prescribed medicines : 1) KALI SULPHUR 6X - 2 tablets thrice a day 2) PERTOLEUM 30 - 1 drop twice a day in water But there is not enough improvement . Please suggest a good treatment for him.
Hello, Welcome to health care magic. Palmar keratoderma is a chronic problem which needs continous treatment. It can worsen in winters. I won't be able to comment on the homeopathic medications. However i could suggest good allopathic treatments which could work well on regular use. it is better to take a skin biopsy to rule out other causes like psoriasis and pityrissis rubra Pilaris ,etc. You could use keratolytic creams containing salicylic acid, urea and lactic acid which will remove the thickened layers of the skin. Antibiotic ointments can be used inside the cracks. Oral retinoids could be tried if there is no response to above treatment. Please consult your dermatologist to discuss the options and prognosis. Hope this helped. WIsh your son a good recovery.
