Suffering From Interstitial Lung Disease, Using Perifinidine, Low BP, Dizziness. Want To Use ATEN

doctor MY FATHER IS 83 YRS OLD .. HAD BEEN USING ATEN 50 SINCE FEW YRS WD ECOSPRIN & WAS DOING WELL ON ALL PARAMETERS . SUDDENLY CARDIOLOGIST SWITCHED OVER TO NEBISTAR 2.5 MG SINCE ABOUT 45 DAYS NOWAFTER WHICH IMMEDTLY IN FEW DAYS HE IS FEELING UNCOMFORTABLE UNEASY AT INTERVALS OF TIME & AGAIN . HE IS ALSO SUFFERING WD INTERSTITIAL LUNGS DISEASE & USING PERIFINIDINE AS PER PULMONOLOGIST ADVISE.. CAN WE SWITCH OVER TO ATEN 50 ONLY WHERE HIS BP ALL USED TO BE NORMAL BUT NOW IS LOW BP & DIZZINESSS ALSO

Nebistar and aten belong to the same group of antihypertensive except that nebistar is higher generation. Though both have more or less same actions but nebistar may be little more potent. Your father could be developing low BP because of this. Both these drugs at times may worsen the breathlessness due to lung cause. The effect may be more marked with Aten and probably that`s why he has been shifted to nebistar.You may change back to Aten after consulting your doctor.
