Pain Medicine & Palliative Care Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
The most likely cause of her illness is viral gastroenteritis. This will resolve spontaneously but in the meantime you should treat the symptoms. I suggest you continue with as much water as she can keep it down. Take oral rehydration salts as well. These are available over the counter. Eat a plain diet. Rest as much as possible. Anti-diarrhoreal medicines may help.
I hope she feels better soon.
Regards,
Dr K A Pottinger,
MBChB. FRCA
