Suffering From Constipation, feeling Of Gas Trapped In Abdomen. Hurts On Doing Abdominal Exercise. BP High. Lungs And Heart Normal. Anything Serious?

i feel like i have trapped gas in abdomen/under ribs. It feels like my chest wont expand as much and i have been constipated for the last 6 days, which is the amount of time i have been feeling these symptoms. Alot of rumbling coming from that area so i think it is trapped gas and i burp it up very often but the discomfort will not fully go away. It hurt right after doing abdominal exercise so i have a feeling it is pneumothorax but i went to ER yesterday (because i stopped smoking a week ago and was wondering if i had lung or heart issues) and they said my lung and heart seem to be fine which doesn t make sense to me. Yesterday my blood pressure was high at 150 so i m scared it could be something serious but I am not sure.

Hello dear,

First of all, a single reading of high blood pressure does not indicate any pathology in of the Cardiovascular system.
Moreover, ER examination has revealed no problems in your heart & lungs.

The symptoms as mentioned in your post suggest that you might be having gastritis associated with chronic constipation.
Though symptomatic relief can be obtained with intake of antacid preparation, the underlying cause needs to be treated.

Regarding the problem of constipation, the causes can be many, such as:
The causes of constipation can be:
1. Any pathology/ sub acute obstruction in the Gastrointestinal tract
2. Irritable bowel syndrome- constipation predominant type.
3. Functional cause- due to decreased gastric motility.
4. Inadequate intake of fluids and fiber rich diet.
5. Hormonal & Metabolic causes, etc.

So, kindly consult a Gastroenterologist & get a proper physical examination done.
Investigations like complete blood count, Ultrasound scan of abdomen, Endoscopy & contrast studies will be helpful to rule out any pathological cause for your symptoms.

There is no need to worry, you will be fine.
Till then, maintain adequate hydration & proper nutrition status.

Wishing a good health.
Take care.
