Hello and Welcome to HealthCareMagic
I am Doctor Saleem Ur Rehman and I will answer your qustions

Pneumococcal vaccine is usually not recommended above 5 years of age and below 65 years, because at that time body develops enough resistance against the bacteria. If the child's previous vaccination status is unknown then one dose of PCV13 is offered. So you should take him for Pneumococcal vaccination if you dont know his previous vaccination status. Your doctor will probably also advise a chest x ray and complete blood count to look at his chest and the concentration of white blood cells (the body's army) in his blood.

Pneumococcal vaccination is strongly recommended when the patient's immunity is unable to fend off infection, when the spleen is removed or damaged, when he has frequent respiratory tract infections, chronic heart disease, chronic liver disease, chronic kidney disease etc.

Now about your son's symptoms, vomitting fever and cough are very common with pneumonia. If I were your doctor, I would have put your son on antibiotics to kill the bacteria, cough syrups to decrease his cough so that he may have rest and anti-fever drugs. I would also have given him anti - vomitting drugs if he is vomitting profusely.

As a home remedy, you should give him warm liquids to drink, apply vaporubs, turmeric with milk, and make him sleep with head elevated. You may also use some honey to help them with the cough. Another good option is to make a cup of Lemongrass Qehwa for him at night. It is very popular in the South-Asia.

May he be healthy soon
