Stents Put In After Balloon Angioplasty. Is Travelling Safe? Had A Bypass Surgery In The Past

HI there - My dad just had two stents put in and a balloon procedure done on another artery. He has a follow up apt with thte doctor in a week. He was scheduled to take a trip to Europe on June 3rd. We are wondering if we should cxl the trip out of precaution. We will be asking the doctor the same quetion but also wanted to check various sources as to their opinion. My Dad is 83 and he had bypass surgery 9 years ago. He is typically very active and had not symptoms....he had a Nuclear stress test and that is when they recommended doing a Cath and found the beginning of blockage.

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

Generally, it is safe to travel, if he has no symptoms of angina or failure.
He should avoid physical strain (like lifting the suit case) and psychological strain (anxiety over schedules and dead lines).
His medical report must be in hand baggage / short summary, in pocket...
Stock of medicines - for 2 weeks more than needed for the period of travel - must be there...
Repeating the ‘nuclear stress test ‘ will confirm the adequacy of blood flow.

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
