Sprained Ankle While Falling, Foot Twisted Inward, Swollen, Bluish Color, Hurts.

Hi, a while ago I think I might have sprained my ankle when I fell and my foot twisted inward. The next day it was swollen and a bluish color. After a few days, the swelling and bruising went away. Now, the swelling is back as well as the bruise . It hurts a bit but not as much as when I first twisted it. Why did the swelling come back?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
After ankle sprain generally an examination is conducted by an orthopedist and if necessary MRI is taken to assess the amount of sprain Mild sprains are strapped in elastocrepe bandage for 10 days and severe ones are immobilised in a below knee plaster cast. In your case probably insufficient immobilization has been done. Now you must seek an orthopedists help and get it strapped for a week or 10 days along with some anti-inflamatory medicines.
