Spot Of Blood On Cotton Bud While Cleaning Child's Ears. Ear Drum Perforated?
I was cleaning my toddlers ear with a cotton bud and I went too deep and he started screaming! I pulled out the cotton bud and it had blood on it.
He did stop crying very quickly (less than 20 seconds) and the bleeding stopped quickly. Just hope I didn't pop his ear drum.
I feel terrible and want some advice as too how deep an ear bud would need to go in order to perforate an ear drum in a 19 month old boy?

Spot of blood on cotton bud is due to mild abrasions inside skin.
Don't worry it occurs due to friction on the skin with wax and bud.
You have to be always careful to clean the child's ear.
You can just clean his ear under your vision,don't go inside beyond your visibility.
You can use wax softener ear drops before cleaning the ear.
Consult your family physician for further guidance.
