Sour Smell In Nose, Sore In Nostril, Post Nasal Drip. Cause?

I have a sour smell in my nose and a sore that keeps developing inside my right nare that seems to develop a booger scab that makes my nare reddened on the outside. I have always had a lot of sinus drainage ( post nasal drip ) I also use a nasal rinse bottle every day in the shower. What could be causing the sour smell inside my nose. I also worry that I have bad breath all the time because of the way my nose smells.

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that there is an infection within the nasal passages. This would cause an abnormal odour.

A history of sinusitis would predispose you to these possible infections.

You may need antibiotics to treat an infection if one is present.

You should consider visiting your doctor for an assessment which include visualisation of the nostrils.

I hope this helps
