Soreness In Ankle, Sharp Pain. Why Is It Getting Worse?

I fell down roughly ten concrete steps earlier. At first my ankle just felt a bit sore and I went about my business. After an hour, I had practically forgotten about it as it no longer hurt. Sharp but very short burts of pain started about 4 hours after the fall.
It is now 7 hours after, and I can not move the ankle more than half an inch in any way without very very severe pain.
I have done the normal ice pack and elevation thing but it seems to be getting worse.
I am just wanting to know why the pain would be so delayed like this and if there is anything else I can do to speed up recovery.

Hi, the delay may be due to accumulation of fluid/inflammatory mediators / prostaglandins after tissue damage. You need to consult your doctor once and get done one x ray to rule out any fracture (may be hair line fracture also).
Now continue ice pack and elevation.
Can take NSAID like aceclofenac with serratiopeptidase for pain. Apply local diclofenac gel to reduce pain. This will help you.
