Sore throat can be related to a viral or bacterial infection. Viral infection is more common than bacterial infection.
In your case where the pain is still severe after 4 days and becoming worse, it is possible that you have bacterial not viral pharyngitis.
This means that antibiotics may be necessary. In addition to the antibiotics , there are gargles and sprays available that will help decrease the pain that you are experiencing.
Examples include bethadine, chloroseptic, benzydamine, diflam.
I hope this helps
