Sore On Lips, Swollen Gum. Diagnosed With Herpangina, Taking Antibiotics. When Will These Sore Stop? Anything To Worry?

Hi, my son was diagnosed with herpangina on Sunday. Today is his 2nd full dose of antibiotics, but I noticed he still has the sores with another one on his bottom lip, and also noticed his gum real swollen that it scared me, is that caused by the herpangina infection also? Should I be worried about that? When do the sores stop or start dissapearing?

Hello,

Welcome to healthcaremagic forum.

Ulcers occured due to herpangina infection usually heals within 7-8 days.

The vesicles appeared on lips, gums etc.ruptures and spread into buccal mucosa, palate etc.

No treatment is required as it heals by its own.

But in some cases ,complications like acute parotitis, meningitis and hemolytic anemia may occur.

Take care.
