Sore Arm After Taking Tetanus Injection. Suggested As Tendinitis. Is This Due To Tetanus Shot?
I got a tetanus shot a year ago. For some time my arm hurt right where I received the vaccine. It got better but bothered me from time to time. In the last month it has gotten really sore when I move it a certain way. My doctor says it is probably tendinitis and not related but it is sore right at the same spot. Is possible it is from the tetanus shot ? Will it get better on its own
Hello, Welcome to Healthcaremagic. No, It can not be due to Tetanus injection you received before 1 year. Tendonitis is usually due to Repeated and awkward movements. Sports person usually have tendinitis because of their repetitive movements.
It can be easily diagnosed by Physical examination. X-ray may show calcium deposits around tendon in affected area.
ultrasound and MRI are useful in defining the swelling of tendon sheath.
You may need bedrest, Painkillers like diclofenac and Physiotherapy
You may need corticosteroid if the pain is severe. Shock wave therapy and Hot and cold compress are also helpful
Hope this helps. Take care. If any doubt, Kindly reply. Regards,'Dr.Manjeth.
