Thank you very much for posting this question in HCM

Let me tell you that any symptom in medicine can be due to various causes and the primary objective of the treating doctor is to establish the cause and deal accordingly.

Apart from that the presence or absence of certain symptoms, age of the patient, gender, weight and other co-morbid medical conditions (For example diabetes, blood pressure, stroke in heart/ brain, psychiatric disorder etc) can help us narrow down the possibility.

Further, I want to tell you that there are various types of sleep problem like insomnia, narcolepsy, sleep apnea etc.

I have made a note of your data. I feel that you may have insomnia. However, in the absence of a clear description of exact problem, it is difficult to rule out other possibility as i have discussed above.

I advise you to get examined and interviewed by a sleep medicine specialist who will assess the way I have described above. You may need a polysomnograpy test depending upon the initial evaluation by the local sleep medicine specialist.

If it is insomnia, you will benefit with sleep hygiene.

Go to bed at regular time, don’t do other work in the bed room, avoid team, coffee late in the evening, avoid hot bath in the evening, practice relaxation

If this fails a small dose of zolpidem will help.

Hope this will help you
