Silver Dollar Piece Size Keloid In Head, Painful. Is It Life Threatening ?
Hello , I am twenty nine years old and have a keloid the size of a silver dollarpiece in my head. My mother told me that I was born with it... it's very painful and it's as though pressure is being applied to my skull..... is it possible to be born with this and is it life threatening because it sure does feel like it:-(
Keloid is acquired condition and occurs in later part of life following any trauma.
Since you are having it from your birth ,it could be either a nevus known as nevus sebaceous of jadason. It is present at birth but it gradually increases in size in puberty causing pain.
Other diagnosis is trichellemal cyst ,this is a defect in hair root formation.
In both cases you need to consult a surgeon and get it excised.Although not life threatening ,but it is always better to get such lesions diagnosed and removed under the guidance of a good surgeon.
Hope this will help you.Take care.
With regards.
