Should Tonsils Be Removed Due To Reoccurring Tonsil Stones?

Hi, I'm a 17 year old female. I use to get strep throat a lot when I was younger. Have not had it in three years. I have constant/reoccurring tonsil stones. They have a very foul odor and I'm very tired of them. I've gargled mouth wash and peroxide and they still come back. I pick them off with my fingers because that seems to be the only way. They do not hurt, just very irritating. Would you recommend getting my tonsils removed?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand..

As per your complain tonsil stones are calcified structures formed due to calcification of food and debris that get accumulated over the tonsils
They are otherwise harmless structures but can lead to bad breath and recurring throat infections and Tonsillitis..
In case if the remedies to stop formation of tonsil stones like limiting intake of dairy products, gargle with warm saline water and always gargle after meals and also gargle with hydrogen peroxide and water solution and antimicrobial mouthwash gargles does not resolve the condition the permanent solution for it is to get tonsils removed also known as Tonsillectomy..
So in case if there is severe discomfort and you have normal vital signs you can get the tonsils removed..
Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
