Should Regular Dose Of Lipitor Be Stopped Before Taking Cipro 750mg?
Hi, I am scheduled for a prostate biopsy.I was instructed to take one 750mg tablet of cipro one hour before the procedure. I currently take 20mg of lipitor daily. Should I stop taking the lipitor. If so , how long before and after the one dose of cipro? Thanks

If taken together, Ciprofloxacin may slow down the clearance of Lipito from the liver resulting in increasing blood levels of Lipitor which can cause certain harmful side effects such myopathy (muscle pain, tenderness, weakness) or discoloration of your urine (due to an increase breakdown of muscle protein), increased risk of liver injury, etc.
You can skip one dose of Lipitor one day before and one day after undergoing prostate biopsy.
