Should Proteins Be Avoided If Suffering From Multinodular Goiter?

I have multinodular goiter and my thyroid levels are fine -I may have been misleading in my initial question. Are all the foods you sent me still okay - a naturopath told me once to avoid goitrogenics eg cabbage, brussels sprouts, broccoli. Is the iodine in Spirilina ok with the multinodular goiter - would it interact with micardis. You say Avoid flesh proteins - what does this mean. Also with the foods that stimulate the thyroid - is that good. Is fish oil ok? Also what about a supplement called co enzyme q10. Ould this help with anti aging-would it harm my thyroid or nodules?

Hi,

1. Regarding thyroid : If you are from an iodine sufficient area or using iodine fortified foods (like iodised salt) none of these food supplementation / diet modification have an effect on your thyroid
2. If you are on adequate iodine intake none of these goitrogens will decrease your thyroid function especially if you are taking these foods well cooked
3. In most multinodular goitre your thyroid function is normal suggesting adequate iodine intake.

I suggest you to do your thyroid function checked. If it is normal , no dietary intervention is needed as your thyroid is normally functioning without that. If your thyroid is underfunctioning, thyroid hormone replacement is a better, cheaper and safer treatment for that.

4. Regarding coenzyme q and antiaging there is no true evidence to suggest treatment. Still no worries as it is of no serious side effects

Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any further queries I will be happy to help you
