Should One Sleep More While On Methylphenidate CD?

My 19 year old son recently quite taking Methylphenidate CD 20mg and seemed to be doing fine with lots of rest. He recently started back to school and is not getting quite as much sleep and wants to go back on the methylphenidate . He says he is tired and isn t as focused. Does he just need more sleep or does he need the med?

Hi,

Suggested dose need to be completed, if this is not being completed then first complete the course of medicine and then he has to see the psychiatrist for further advise and that is depends upon how much the drug made the work.

If the symptoms are still there for the disease for that he has been given medicine then psychiatrist will advise accordingly, else the symptom of sleep nothing to do with the medicine he is taking, Methylphenidate may not cause drowsiness, or sedation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
