Should I Take Biotin For Hair Loss?

hi i m xxx.. 19 male..i would like to tell you that i m suffering from hair loss..nd after shampooing for 2times aa day my head still itches a lot..do you think that i have a scalp infection?which treatment should i go for?? should i take biotin tablets tablets ?? will that help??

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

I would keep a possibility of Seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrheic dermatitis presents clinically with itching and scalp scaling. Seborrheic dermatitis can also lead to increases hair shedding.

If I was your treating doctor I would have asked you to use an antidandruff lotion for shampoo, thrice weekly for 2-4 weeks followed by one or twice weekly once the dandruff is under control.

Biotin also helps with seborrheic dermatitis and in reducing hair fall and can be taken in a does of 10 mg once daily.
