Should I Meet Doctor For Diarrhea And Black Stool?
I havent eaten much due to stress in about a week. On monday tho I had very light brown diarrhea for the day and because I was at work took some pepto to simply calm my stomach. Today is the first day I've had a bowel movement and its nearly black and odorless and its been constant in small amounts all day. Should I contact my doctor or wait to see if it clears up on its own?
Having diarrhea with black stool needs to be investigated. As you mentioned that you are having stress, here stress can cause gastritis and peptic ulcers. If these peptic ulcers have small amount of bleeding from it then it can result in black diarrhea. It would be safe to consult a physician and thorough evaluation. It would be of worth to do a CBC to check the hemoglobin level. If there are changes in hemoglobin level then your physician would probably refer you for an endoscopy. I would also advise you take nexium which would help with reducing the acidity in your stomach. This will be a good aid in recovery of any gastritis/ulcers if present in your stomach.
Wishing you good health. If you have further questions please free to contact me.
Best regards.
