Should I Continue Taking Norethindrone Micronor And How Long Should I Take It?

Hello, I have been taking Norethindrone Micronor 0.35mg for about a year and a half now. I was given this after my d&c surgery at age 58 to help with the change and to stop any heavy bleeding. It has worked well, a little bleeding about 3 or 4 times a year, and now I am wondering if I should continue and if so for how long? Until my body goes through the change?
Thank you, Gudrun

You'd want to consult with your GYN about this. It isn't the worst medicine to be on since it is NOT going to increase risk of uterine cancer (estrogens would; this is a progesterone). With bleeding 3 to 4 times a year, you still need close watching. There shouldnt' be ANY. So, consultation for why any bleed and likely will be a time to come off the drug.
