Should A Doctor Be Consulted For Persistent Headaches?

Hi,I have been experiencing headaches every single day which i get mostly getting into the car or just usually while i’m laying down i have tried ibuprofen and exerderin but they don’t work that well the only thing that helps is sleep and usually after an hour or two the headache comes back.I drink 48 oz of water everyday so it couldn’t be dehydration but i’m not sure what it is.Will these pass or should i go to my doctor?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

According to your history you are having persistent head ache that fails to resolve even with usual analgesics. It might be a migraine or a cluster head ache. As the pain persist, it is better to get evaluated. I suggest you to consult a neurologist and get evaluated. An MRI scan can be considered to rule out other causes for head ache. As of now you can try sumatriptan or ergots which shows better results in chronic head ache.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
