Should Ropinirole HCL Along With Zanaflex Be Taken For Muscle Spasms?

I am on Ropinirole HCL, 1 mg. and take 3 at bedtime for muscle spasms. It is helpful and I sleep better when I take it. My doctor has also prescribed Zanaflex, 4 mg. I m thinking I don t need both and may just stick with Ropinirole. Any comments?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

Ropinirole is used for the treatment of restless leg syndrome which causes an abnormal sensation and relieved by leg movements. Ropinirole do not actually treat muscle spams if present. If you have muscle spasms/cramping then muscle relaxant like Zanaflex is needed. Otherwise, you can just take Ropinirole as muscle relaxants do not treat restless leg syndrome and can make you drowsy.

Hope this answers your question
