Should I Withdraw Epilim Slowly Or Suddenly?

Hi doctor. I am 37 and I am using Epilim CR 200mg once a day. My doctor told me that I must not carry on with it. I just want to know if I can just stop taking it or must I drink only halve of it for the next two weeks?? He put me on Redilev 1000 mg in the morning and 1250mg at night as well. He told me that Epilim is not good for me if I want to have kids one day.

Hi. Welcome to HCM. Epilim CR 200 contains Sodium Valproate used to for the treatment of epilepsy in adults and children. It may be used alone or in combination with other medicines to treat your condition. Epilim helps control your condition but does not cure it. Therefore you must take it every day. If you forget a dose, take your next dose as usual. Do not take a double dose to make up for the dose that you missed. This may increase the chance of your getting unwanted side effects. U should not stop taking Epilim, or lower the dosage, without checking with your doctor as their is risk of recurrence of epilepsy. Redilev contains Levetiracetam and used for treating a condition called partial-onset, myoclonic, or generalized tonic-clonic seizures in patients with epilepsy. U should not stop suddenly taking this medication also. Consult your doctor before taking any decision. My strong advice is never stop these medications by yourself. Regards
