hi.

noted history of gallstone disease. if you are not experiencing symptoms right now, observation and regular follow-up may be done, doesn't necessarily mean that surgical treatment is not an option anymore. diet modification to low fat intake is advised. even if you are not experiencing symptoms right now, they may occur in the future. it is still best if you consult with a doctor, preferably a general surgeon, for physical examination and clinical evaluation. other diagnostics (such as liver function tests, alkaline phosphatase, etc.) and management (medical and/or surgical) will be directed accordingly. an elective (scheduled) cholecystectomy is always better than an emergent one. better outcome and less post-operative complications are expected in these types of surgeries. surgical removal of the gallbladder can be done laparoscopically (goldstandard) or thru open technique.

hope this helps.

good day!!
