Should I Take Provera For Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding?

Hi I have dysfunctional uterine bleeding and have been bleeding for 13 weeks now. Very heavy. I got put on levornogestrel 150/30mg and am also taking primolut 5mg, two tablets three times per day. The bleeding has yet to stop and I feel nauseated and have terrible cramping. My doctor mow recommends the depot provera as well. What is your suggestion?

Hello dear'Understand your concern
Yes you have to take the provera depot to cure the dysfunctional uterine bleeding.
Following are the causes of uterine bleeding:
Dysfunctional uterine bleeding: due to hormonal imbalance
Endometrial dysplasia or endometrial cancer.
As bleeding do not stop due to levenogestrol and primolut tablet.
Next step is provera depot should be taken for 3-4 months.
Tranexamic acid can be given to reduce the blood flow.
If bleeding will continue in future inspite of taking provera then bleeding can be stop by doing D & C.
Endometrial tissue should be sent for histopathological examination to diagnose endometrial hyperplasia or cancer.
If found, endometrial ablation should be needed depends upon stage and severity.
Hope this may help you
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
