Sir I am on first line TB treatment, started few days back and then stopped last week due to increased SGOT & SGPT levels. then restarted the treatment adding pone medicine at a time, not again after starting RCIN 450 mg the SGPT and SGOT levels have increased. Doctor has asked to stop RCIN again. Should I take LIV52 to keep my lever healthy so that the tb treatment is not stopped and continued without problem

Hello,

Isoniazid, rifampicin, pyrazinamide medicines are hepatotoxic, they cause injury to the liver. You have to stop taking these medicines if your liver function test reports, SGPT, SGOT show elevated levels. If you have symptoms of nausea, fatigue, loss of appetite, abdominal pain you should urgently consult your health care provider / GP, get clinically examined.

You may need immediate medical aid / support. Yes, you can take liver tonics, liv-52, digestives enzymes (Aristozyme) and boiled water after cooling. Get your liver examined by GP and treated. You should take boiled food to detox your liver. Take home-made food, you can take lean meat cooked in olive oil. Stay away from fried food, spicy food, oily food, junk food, packaged and processed food.

Every 45 days, get liver function tests done, it is a vital organ. You should take anti TB medicines only if your liver function tests are normal. You can take food cooked in olive oil when your LFT (liver function test) is normal, avoid other oil. Do not take trans-fat, full fat dairy products, or food that is difficult for the liver to digest. Stay at rest, do not exhaust yourself.

Stay away from any type of emotional and physical stress and anxiety. Take food good for the liver. Take care of your liver and get TB treated. This may take time therefore, be patient with yourself. Stay on strict diet control as instructed for few months till you regain health.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
