General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
It is important to discuss any changes to your medication regimen with your healthcare provider. In this case, if you have elevated liver counts due to Lipitor, your healthcare provider may want to monitor your liver function or consider an alternative medication for managing your cholesterol levels.
Stopping Lipitor abruptly without consulting your healthcare provider could lead to a rebound effect and cause your cholesterol levels to increase. Additionally, your healthcare provider may want to investigate further to determine the cause of your elevated liver counts and make appropriate recommendations based on your health status.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
