Should I Consult A Surgeon For Draining The Cyst Which Is On The Scalp?

i have a cyst on my scalp that I have had for many years...my dermatologist has been watching it..it grew and got very red and the it started draining...lots of cheezy stuff.... he wants me to see a surgeon but that seems sort of silly for a small little cyst that looks like it could be drained in the office.

Hello,
It is my pleasure to help you,
I have reviewed your history. Your history of having cyst on your head for me it looks like a Sebaceous cysts.Sebaceous cysts arises from sebaceous gland—which produces the oil called sebum that coats your hair and skin.
These cysts are common noncancerous cysts of the skin.
Sebaceous cysts can develop if the gland or its duct are blocked, usually occurs due to a trauma to that area.
They grow slowly and are not life threatening, but they may become uncomfortable if they go unchecked.
We will usually diagnose a cyst with only a physical examination and medical history.
Without surgical removal, your cyst will usually come back.
The best treatment is to ensure complete removal through surgery.
Your operating surgeon can decide type of surgery to remove the cyst.
Hope your query is cleared. Please feel free to inquire the doubts.
Thank you.
