Should I Be Concerned For The Sprain In The Neck And Headaches?

Recently i skid from my bike and sprained my neck along with some minor injuries. The neck sprain was low on that day later it became severe for 2 days. now i only has a small feeling of it. but the real problem is since that day i has this slight Headache (not much just a feeling) at the base of the skull that radiate towards the forehead. What is this phenomenon and is it serious? What should i do?

Hi,

I read your question carefully and understand your concern. Headache after a sprain neck needs to be taken seriously, because there is the possibility of a dissected artery (separation of the layers of the artery wall, may lead to a stroke if untreated). See a doctor today, your best bet would be the neurology clinic in a hospital, because you need a CT or MRI scan to visualize your neck arteries. I have seen many patients with similar stories like yours.

Please do not hesitate. Hope you will find this answer helpful.

Kind regards,
Dr. Wu
