Should I Be Concerned For A Kid Having Red Rashes On Bum And Inner Thigh?

Hi, My three and a half year old has a rash on her bum and inner thigh. It started off as a red rash the size of a quarter on her bum close to her anus. Over the past few days it has spread to her inner thighs. She says it is not itchy and doesn t seem to bother her. It is red and bumpy. (No white heads that I can see) I have been outing hydrocortisone cream on the spots but it doesn t seem to be making a difference. She has been fully potty trained, including through the night, for over a year. Should I be taking her to see her paediatrician? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. A concerned mom :)

Dear Friend
Welcome to Health care magic. I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I will shortly try to help you with my opinion.

Such red rash involving the mentioned sites in this age group can be because of any of the following
1) tinea cruris et corporis: fungal infection mainly due to humid condition or excess sweat.

2) dermatits: it is characterised by red colored rash .

The treatment for both these is entirely different. So, i will advice you to visit your pediatrician/dermatologist so that the lesions can be examined and correct treatment can be started.

Based on the available details, this is my best advice for you. You should discuss with your doctor and share my opinion , I am sure he/she will agree to my opinion. If you wish to discuss the problem further with me , you may ask through section of PREMIUM query , directed on my name.
Stay Healthy.
