Should I Be Concerned By Infraction Showed In Ekg?

My ekg showed an abnormality. the ekg machine says its a lateral infarct. I subsequently saw a cardiologist who was not concerned about it after a resting and stress echocardiogram. Those tests were normal. Why would an infarction not be of cencern? He just said I'm getting old. I'm 58.

Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

EKG is a relatively non-specific test, and may therefore be falsely positive.
You have already undergone resting and stress echo tests, which were normal and have therefore excluded presence of any infarct.

So, there is nothing worry. The EKG findings were probably either misinterpreted or an artifact (non-specific changes).

If you find my response helpful and informative, do not forget an “excellent” (5-star rating) to my answer, to ENCOURAGE ALL doctors- engaged in social service- to render sound advice to the FREE queries.

Take care
